Millers Falls Early No. 1 Hand Drill Rosewood w/Drills

This is a nice clean, quality made egg beater type, single speed hand drill marked MILLERS FALLS CO. NO. 1 MILLERS FALLS MASS., on the crank handle. This one is 12.5 inches long overall, and has a 3/16 inches diameter chuck capacity (this one has the old style 3 jaw chuch that is not spring loaded, as the jaw slide back using gravity instead of springs). The handles are rosewood, and still in nice clean condition, no cracks, minor scratches, some tiny dings (mostly on the side handle) snug fitting. There is a minor cut in the metal ferrule of the crank handle, but holding firm together.  Overall the paint is about 80% intact. The gears and all the spindles are in great shape, (note this model has a tapped hole for the adjustable crank wheel idler screw to keep the gears well engaged, the idler is not on this version, no evidence it ever was from the factory). The end handle is hollow and has a threaded cap, in very good condition. A place to store your drills if you wish, there is a a good used set of three spiral drills included (you can use standard straight round shank drills with this tool). The chuck on this old style drill is 3 jaw type, not spring loaded, so you use gravity to open the jaws, works fine, one of the nicest we have seen of this style chucks. A good solid tool from the 1910's, ready to use or display!
