A MOUNTAIN IN THE SIERRA NEVADA RANGE- John Stanley Johnson

$4,000.00
Quantity available: 1

This exceptionally colorful painting by John Stanley Johnson is in all likelihood a view of Mammoth Mountain in the High Sierras. This particular range of mountains are the highest in California reaching some 15,000 feet in height of which Mammoth Mountain is one of the highest at approximately 12,000 feet. This is a well painted picture with vibrant colors.
Johnson paints with a loose hand, but the results are very pleasing.
John Stanley Johnson was born in Tennessee in 1898. After studying art in Paris, Johnson settled in Los Angeles in 1924 and was active there until his demise in 1938. He was a member of the California Society of Etchers and the Society of American Etchers.
