Nata Piaskowski (1912-2004) settled in Carmel, CA in 1942, where she met Edward Weston and Johan Hagemeyer. In 1947 she studied with Minor White at the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute). Minor's work greatly influenced Nata's photography, and they became a lifelong friends. Her work was included in his exhibition 'Light 7' at MIT Hayden Gallery, 1968 and the catalogue published by Aperture. In 1954. she participated with other CSFA students in the exhibition "Perceptions" at the San Francisco Museum of Art, which she also co- curated with Dody Warren. In 2004 Piaskowski's work was featured on exhibition and in the catalogue 'Ten Photographers, 1946-54: the Legacy of Minor White ' published by Paul M Hertzmann, Inc. Collections: M useum of Modern Art, New York; Center for Creative Ph otography, Tucson; Oakland Museum; San Francisco Mus eum of Modern Art; National Portrait Gallery, Washin gton, D.C.; Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY C. A 1948 portrait of Piaskowski appears in Richard Lorenz's 'Imogen Cunningham: Portraiture' book, plate 1 39.
