Very Rare authentic ancient, 3rd - 1st century B.C. Famous Sarmatian cavalry, large iron sword. Hand forged with an integrated hilt, comprised broad, double-edged tapering flat blade with visible on the one face incised three slender fullers that run down from a rectangular panel incised on ricasso below the hilt. A well-formed flat tang surmounted by lobed antenna pommel.

 

CONDITION: In excavated condition, but well-preserved, in Very nice and stable condition with spots showing vigorous iron, tiny losses to edges, very stable Encrusted patina on surface, point of the blade slightly broken.

 

MEASUREMENTS:


Overall length: 87.8 cm (34 9⁄16 inches)

Width of the blade at the widest point: 6.8 cm (2 .68 inches)
