Our lovely bronze box with cloisonne enamel from the Inaba studio of Kyoto, Japan, features the figures of exotic birds. In good condition. With the familar mark of the company on underside.  Measures 4 1/4 by 3 5/8 by 2 1/8 inches.

Founded in 1886 by Inaba Isshin, a former samurai who began working in enamels in 1875, the firm was a competitor with Ando who produced designs and used techniques originating from both Kyoto and Nagoya.  Closed in the 1990s, its tooling and records survive in the archives of the Museum of Kyoto.
