This beautiful painting by Nicola Simbari (Italian, 1927-2012) depicts figures and colorful umbrellas in a waterfront beach scene.  Canvas measures 39 by 19.75 inches.  Signed and dated "66" for 1966.

Born in San Lucido, Calabria, Simbari was grew up in Rome where he studied at Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma.  He is known for his figural and landscape paintings and his style was informed by Impressionism and defined by his palette knife technique and use of vivid colors inspired by the ocean, sky and floral landscapes of the Mediterranean.  His works reside in the collections of the Bank of Tokyo, Christian Dior in Paris, the Italian State Railways in Rome, Liberty Company in London, Tulsa Bank of Commerce, Cincinnati Fine Arts Department, Exxon Corporation, General Mills Corporation,and Pepsico.
