Antique 15th-16th century Indian finely carved bone sculpture of a Hindu goddess, Sri Lakshmi.
The figure depicts the goddess sitting on a lotus throne in a meditation posture, with her legs in the Lotus position (Padmasana). She is wearing a dhoti tied at her waist, with a sash draping down the side of her left leg. Her naked torso with overly rounded breasts is adorned with necklaces, and her arms are adorned with armlets and bracelets.
Her lower right hand rests on her inner thigh, and her left hand is held in a raised position—Abhaya and Varada Mudras.
Her face features a protruding nose with a circular ring, known as a "Nath," flanked by almond-shaped eyes, plump lips, and elongated earlobes adorned with lotus flower-shaped earrings. Her hair is styled in an elaborate chignon resembling a lotus flower and topped with a luxurious diadem.
CONDITION: She is showing age and usage, with exceptional dark patina, age cracks, and chips. Two of her upper arms are broken off.
