Antique 17th -18th century, Islamic Turkish Ottoman gold gilt copper “Tombak” stirrup comprising a convex and flaring rectangular base with foliate sides and arched crossbar with elliptical suspension loop, and the original leather strap.

The exterior side panels with scrolled borders, finely hand chased and engraved with flower heads and stylized foliage.

High-ranking officials of the Ottoman army used this type of Turkish Ottoman stirrups. These stirrups are rare and important objects of Turkish Ottoman Islamic art. Only a few of them have survived to this day, mainly in the most important museum collections in the world, including the famous Topkapı Sarayı Museum.

CONDITION: Showing age and usage, gold gilding on the exterior is in very good condition, some minor splits on the joining of the base repaired with old soldering.
