Rare antique 17th-century Islamic Turkish Ottoman Bardiche war axe of the famous Ottoman infantry army elite Janissary Corps.
The large well-hand-forged steel head features visible forging marks. It consists of a massive crescent-shaped blade, a central oval-shaped central block with a round eye, and a rear with a projecting square-shaped stem and hammer.
It is mounted on a tapered wooden shaft of circular section, affixed at the end with an iron tube.
The elite Ottoman infantry, the famous Janissarie Corps, was armed with these Beardish axes with large crescent-shaped blades. These axes were used both as deadly combat weapons and in support of the heavy muskets used during battle.

CONDITION: With signs of age and usage. The blade's cutting edge and the rear hammer bear nicks, showing that the axe was used in combat.
