This is an antique Islamic Indo-Persian aftaba ewer from the 18th-19th century, made in the Caspian Sea area.
It is a large, hand-crafted tinned copper piece with a flattened, bulbous shape and a long, hand-wrought baluster neck. The ewer has a hinged cover with an acorn finial, a swan-shaped spout, and an "S" scrolled handle with a dragon-head terminal. It is raised on a circular foot, and the flattened sides are adorned with oval medallions that have been hand-engraved and chased with scenes depicting the graceful and romantic lifestyles of Muslims. The figures are shown wearing traditional Islamic costumes, and the front and back of the ewer are engraved with intricate flower designs.

CONDITION: Shows age and use. The tin plating is slightly worn, consistent with its age. Nice old patina. There are no repairs or restorations.
