Antique 18th-19th century mounted in low-grade silver Tibetan women's belt pouch -Purse (Baghu). Tibetan women have worn this type of pouch on their belts as a sign of wealth and prestige.
The body of the Baghu is made of yak leather, and the front, back, and sides are applied with silver plaques embossed with various patterns.
The center of the flap is adorned with large red coral mounted in a high silver setting with a rosette base mounted on the brass plaque adorned with two golden fishes. The back of the flap is lined by a metal plate affixed with a small catch that holds the purse closed. The purse retained its original suspension leather strap.
MEASUREMENTS: overall length of the front silver frame:14 cm (5.51 inches).
CONDITION: In good condition considering its age. Shows age and use with an old patina.
