Antique 18th-century Spanish cast bronze naval signal - saluting cannon Mortar (Thunder Mug) of a typical design with a handle.
A tapered two-stage barrel, with a reinforcing ring swelling towards the muzzle, with a pronounced, molded, flared muzzle. It rests on a prominent turned round (breech) base with a pan raised and a touch-hole (vent).
This type of mortar cannon, "Thunder Mug," was used on ships in the 17th and 18th centuries to salute and signal the port of their arrival.

Height: 15.5 cm (6.1 inches).
Width at the widest point, including handle and pan: 15 cm (5.91 inches).
Diameter of the base: 12 cm (4.72 inches).
Diameter of the bore: 2.5 cm (0.98 inches).
