An exceptional antique mid - 18th century Rococo hunting sword -hanger .

An ornate solid bronze hilt with the grip and the recurved crossguard in the form of hoofed deer legs with the side guard in the form of Rococo shell .The grip decorated ,with cast in half relief ,hand chiselled and engraved with rococo foliage and scrolls and embellished on the with figure of the goddess of the hunt, Diana and various animals within rococo cartouches .

Slightly curved tapering single-edged blade, double-edged toward the point engraved on the outer surface with initials and scrolls bordered by elaborate rococo frame and stamped with crescent moon and three stars.

Original black lacquered leather scabbard with large elaborate brass locket adorned on the exterior with finely embossed chiseled and engraved ,quiver with arrows and the cupid within rococo ornaments and at the back with Diana within rococo cartouche . The tip of the scabbard mounted with plain brass chape

CONDITION: Shows age and use.

Blade with some expected minor wear and pitting, some, nicks the cutting edge, the leather scabbard is very dry showing natural craquelure - a common sign of age in old leather. However, in good condition, for over 250 years old sword.
