Antique Vietnamese bronze vase with silver and copper inlay, Vietnam 19th century, Nguyen Dynasty.

DETAILS: The vase is composed of two separate parts soldered together. It is in a baluster shape and rests on a molded circular foot with a low round body rising to a tall trumpet neck.

The vase's body is inlaid with silver and copper and depicts a Vietnamese aristocrat on horseback and a man pulling a lady in a rickshaw in the countryside.

The neck is silver inlaid with the two longevity symbols and the key pattern above, and the shoulder has Ruyi heads.

 

CONDITION: It shows age and uses, all silver and copper inlays intact, minor dents, particularly on the rim of the base and the neck.

Height: 12.8 cm (5.0 inches)

Diameter: 6 cm (2.4 inches)

Weight: 315 grams (11.1 ounces), hefty for its size.
