An impressive antique 18th century Turkish Ottoman hand hammered, gilt copper alloy (Tombac) Islamic ablution basin with cover. Basin with bulbous body and large flaring rim finely hand embossed and chiseled in relief with three bunches of grapes on a vine which also issues scalloped leaves with scrolling tendrils, and three cartouches with cusped concave rim embellished with flowers.
The cover (filter) is also decorated with three bunches of grapes on a vine which also issues scalloped leaves with scrolling tendrils, and three cartouches with cusped concave rim embellished with flowers pierced with draining-holes and rising to a central soap-tray in the form of the flower head .
