A superb quality antique 19th century Spanish hunting plug bayonet with sturdy, tapering, double-edged blade of a waving (flamboyant) form, with a finely engraved band of foliage on each side.
A turned hardwood grip of a tapering circular section surmounted by a brass pommel, brass ferrule below turned swelling handle at the base and a horizontal brass crossguard with elaborate quillons.
This plug bayonet was designed and used for hunting wild boars and bears.

CONDITION: In good condition. Shows age and usage.

MEASUREMENTS:
Overall length with the scabbard: 32.5 cm (12 ¾ inches).
