Or Best OfferAn antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon depicts the most central event in Christianity, the Nativity of our Lord Christ.
The icon is finely hand-painted in bright colors and gold on gesso on a wood panel. It depicts Baby Jesus laying in the cradle in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes, with a Bethlehem star shining from above, flanked by the Virgin Mary and St Joseph.
The upper left part is painted with three kings on horseback traveling in search of Jesus. The upper right side shows the shepherd and a winged angel looking down from above, announcing the birth of Christ.
CONDITION: The icon is in its original condition, with wear and a lovely old, very dark patina, some flakes, and old cracks in the wood. Free of repaint, repairs, or restorations.
The back of the icon is inscribed in the Cyrillic alphabet.

18 cm x 14cm. (7.09 inches x 5.51 inches).
