Antique. third quarter 19th century English Victorian Period superb quality Ashworth & Bros Ironstone China plate with scalloped rim finely hand painted and highlighted in gold with rare intricate Chinoiserie Imari floral pattern. Reverse marked in brown with printed British United Kingdom Royal coat of arms comprises the motto, “Dieu et mon droit" (God and my Right), as well as the Garter circlet which surrounds the shield, inscribed with the Order’s motto, “Honi soit qui mal y pense” (Shamed be he who thinks evil of it). The crest is a statant guardant lion wearing the St Edward's Crown, himself on another representation of that crown. The dexter supporter is a likewise crowned English lion; the sinister, a Scottish unicorn.

This mark was used by Ashworth Brothers manufacture 1862 – 1891. below hand painted in iron- red with pattern number. 3/633.

The upper part imprinted: REAL IRON STONE CHINA.

This particular Imari pattern is a rare compared to the other Ashworth Ironstone China painted with oriental designs .

MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 23 cm (9.6 inches).

CONDITION: In very good condition, for over 150 years old China. No cracks chips or repairs. The brass wire suspension mount is a later addition
