Antique 19th Century Fire Brigade Firefighter's Helmet

$700.00
Quantity available: 1

An antique 19th-century Fire Brigade firefighter's helmet was handmade from several pieces of iron sheets joined with rivets. The skull consists of two separate pieces.
The comb consists of four parts. The visor and neck guard, which have an unusual shape, are made separately. The short ear flaps and the two side bosses are also produced as separate pieces. The helmet's interior features a leather liner and a leather chin strap with a black lacquered metal buckle.
The helmet retains its original black lacquer finish.

CONDITION: General wear is consistent with age and use, including cracks in the leather chin strap and minor dents in the metal.

DIMENSIONS (approximate):
Overall length: 28.5 cm (11.22 inches).
Width at the base at the widest point: 23 cm (9.06 inches).
Height: 26 cm (10.24 inches).

NOTE: With over 50 years of experience handling antiques, I have never encountered another helmet quite like this one. Its unusual shape, visor, neck guard, and ear flaps set it apart.

We have explored various sources, including the internet, in our search for this specific firefighter helmet model. However, we have been unable to find other helmets with the same design. As a result, I cannot determine the country of origin for this helmet.
