Or Best OfferAntique, 19th century, Russian Orthodox icon of Saint Sergius of Radonezh. The icon is finely hand-painted with egg tempera, gold leaf, and gesso on a wooden panel with a splint (shponk) inserted in the back.
The icon depicts the Russian Orthodox saint Sergius of Radonezh. On the upper left side, Christ Pantocrator is shown blessing the saint, with the Gospels labeled in the Old Church Slavonic alphabet at the top.
The edges are painted with eight different saints, the family's patron saints.
CONDITION: It is in its original condition with an old patina, with signs of age-related wear and flaking in the paint. Free of repairs or restorations. The front of the wooden frame has splits due to its age. The icon is placed in a custom-made, elaborately designed, 19th-century gold gilt and gesso wood frame.
