Antique Armorial Gilt Silver Spoon with Polish – Lithuanian Coat of Arms Poland
$500.00
Or Best OfferAuthentic antique over 100 years old, circa 1900 AD, solid silver gold gilt spoon, with Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth coat of arms.
An ovoid deep bowl with an elaborate stem surmounted at the top by a finial depicting a woman's bust in a classical style. The woman allegorically represents Poland, holding the crown of Poland, backed by a laurel wreath.
The back of the spoon bowl is finely hand-chiseled in low relief and engraved with a heraldic Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth coat of arms with the Polish eagle and Lithuanian Pahonia on opposite sides.
The spoon bowl bears three German silver hallmarks: a German Imperial crown, a crescent moon, an unreadable maker's mark, and the number 800.
The quality of this spoon is of a higher quality than what is typically found in jewelry. The artisan goldsmith has crafted this spoon with great skill, making it a true work of art. The process of creating this spoon was both time-consuming and expensive, but the result is truly magnificent.
