Absolutely stunning black chantilly lace mourning shawl dating from the mid 1800's Civil War and Victorian mourning era. Two of the three sides are edged in black velvet piping.  The lace on this shawl is in near perfect condition, with half a dozen tiny, tiny snags in the lace by the piping.  These are hardly noticeable to the naked eye, and are so minor considering the age of this piece. Both of the piping edges measure 83", and the lace edge measures 58"
