Antique Bug / Cricket Box / Hand Made Rustic Early American

Unavailable

Antique Bug / Cricket Box / Hand Made Rustic   Early American .   It is really a wonderful little box with a sliding door on the top that has a glass window .   Then on the side there is a hole that has a piece that slides over it to close it.   I am not sure if this suppose to be an air hole or a hole to poke the bug through once caught.   It is put together with nails.     The lid has been carved.    There is an depression for a finger hold  then someone added s slotted screw  to grab to hele with sliding it open.

It is 5"  x 4.75" and 3.5" .   Other then some rust stains in the wood .. it is great old condition.     I realize that am asking top dollar for it... but it is unique and quite adorable.   It is a wonderful little piece probably  own by a young boy to collect and keep bug for pets or to study them.    Maybe to use in fishing too.
