Antique Civil War Tintype and Gar medal plus celluloid pinback

 

This group came to us from an estate years ago that had a family full of Union soldiers in it. These pieces were thought to be original to each other so we made sure they stayed that way.  There is a Medal of the Grand Army of the Republic. The G.A.R. was a Union Civil War veterans fraternal and charitable organization  composed of veterans of the Union Army, US Navy, US Marines and US Revenue Cutter Service who served in the American Civil War.This also includes the  pinback . The front of the star reads “Grand Army of the Republic” and “1861 Veteran 1866. The pinback reads the same as the star medal. The back  reads " Made by Ehrman ( twenty years) MFG Co Boston Mass, Allied Printing Trades Union Printing council Boston, Fatory Milford H.   What is unusual about this cased tintype of the Union soldier, is that all his trim is hand colored with something shiny and metallic. He is quite the handsome young fellow isn't he?The case measures 3" x 2 1/2" and has some fabulous antique gilded metal work around it.    I am selling this all together in hopes that its new owner will keep it as one and cherish the memory of this young man who fought in the civil war.   VintageSparkles offers Layaway on all our pieces regardless of which site it comes from.All layaway payments will need to be in the form of a check or money order only.
