This is an antique ewer from the early 19th century, dated AH 1217 (1802-1803 A.D.), from the Turkish Ottoman Empire. It is made of hand-hammered tinned copper and features a bulbous body resting on a short foot. The ewer has a curving, faceted spout and a serpentine handle that connects the body to the neck. The domed hinged lid is fluted and intricately chased with five floral cartouches, topped with a bud finial.

The sides of the ewer are fluted and intricately hand-chased with stylized designs of cypress trees, vines, floral cartouches, and tulips. The short neck is engraved with the date AH 1217 (corresponding to 1802-1803 A.D.) within a decorative frame resembling a tughra. Additionally, the ewer features an oval maker's mark, and the bottom is stamped with a small hallmark.

CONDITION: In its original condition, showing age and usage with a pleasing patina. No repairs or restorations have been made.
