Quantity available: 1

A beautiful, antique French cuirassier helmet of the high commander (Chef d'etat major) of the French Republican Guard of Paris. Helmet Model 1876, Type 1927-1933, III Republic.
The exterior of this helmet showcases the meticulous craftsmanship of its time. The iron skull, visor, and neck guard are nickel-plated and enclosed by a brass rim. The skull is adorned with a tall, embossed, ornate brass 'comb' featuring a medusa head facing downward. On top of the comb is a short, tufted red horsehair in a brass holder, and a black horse tail protrudes from the rear of the comb.
The brass front plate is embossed with the city of Paris's coat of arms, depicting a heraldic shield with a sailing ship on the sea waves. A chief shows the royal emblem of the fleur-de-lis surmounted by a ribbon bearing the city's motto, "Fluctuat Nec Mergitur," over which is a crown composed of the city walls.
The Blason is decorated with the Order of the Legion of Honor awarded to the city on October 9, 1900, and surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves. The brass plume holder on the left has its original plum made from real bird feathers, and it has the colors for the Chef d'etat major: red at the top, white in the middle, and blue at the bottom.
The helmet maintains its original brass chin scales, is backed by leather with brass and a buckle, and is secured by two side bosses.
The skull's interior is covered with original black lacquer, the visor is painted with green lacquer, and the insert has its original morocco leather liner.

CONDITION: This rare helmet is in very good condition. There are no dents, scratches, or other defects. The morocco leather liner is entirely intact.

MEASUREMENTS:
The height from the front short tufted red horsehair to the edge of the visor is 30 cm (11.81 inches).
The length from the visor to the neck guard is 27 cm (10.26 inches).

The display stand is not included with the helmet,
