Antique Indian Islamic Miniature Painting in Brass Enameled Kashmiri Frame

$750.00
Antique Northern Indian Islamic miniature painting on paper, finely hand-painted with great detail in soft colors and gold, depicts a young Mughal aristocrat riding a horse, dressed in an elegant and intricately elaborate costume in characteristic North Indian Mughal fashion.
The miniature is housed in an elaborately shaped brass frame from the 19th century, which is finely hand-engraved in the traditional Kashmiri style of northern India. This frame features intricate floral and creeping patterns inlaid with black enamel. Additionally, it is equipped at the back with a hinged brass easel for support.
The back of the frame is engraved with the date May 3, 1872, which marks the commemorative occasion when it was presented to someone. Additionally, there is an old paper label with a handwritten collection number attached to the lower left corner.
The miniature is significantly older than the frame, as the back is inscribed in calligraphic writing. However, the script is incomplete because the miniature was cut from a larger manuscript page.
