Antique Indian Mughal Areca - Betel Nut Cutter

$350.00
Antique 16th -19th century Indian Mughal Areca - Betel Nut Cutter made of brass with a steel edge. Consists of a richly engraved horseshoe-shaped loop decorated with small crosses, circles and spots , mounted with a narrow steel cutter with tapering recurved handles with shaped knobbed terminals.
Since this pattern of the Betel Nut Cutters were made from the 16th until the 20th century, making it challenging to determine their exact age. However, this particular cutter exhibits signs of aging and use, such as wear and old patina, and closely resembles the Betel Nut Cutters found in The Walters Art Museum's collection.
