The shield is of a circular convex form, made of black lacquered buffalo hide, hand-painted in raised gilt polychrome, with four floral sprays pointing towards the center, marked by a round medallion with floral arabesques, surrounded by four gilded solid silver domed bosses with pierced collars.
The upper part is set with a gilded, solid silver, half-moon crescent.
The bottom part is adorned with two gilded small solid silver bosses with serrated collars.
A painted, raised gilt polychrome border encircles the shield's rim.
Four ring bolts affix the outer surface with the remains of fabric-wrapped leather straps used to hold the shield.

CONDITION: The shield is in good condition considering its age, showing age and use, and some age wear overall. The rim is slightly damaged. Natural color and patina.
