Antique 19th-century Islamic Indo-Persian spearhead. Well hand-forged, sturdy steel spearhead with twin fork-like wave blades tapered to a pronounced reinforced point tip designed to penetrate chain mail. The spearhead is decorated on both sides with etched Arabic inscriptions. The long tubular socket is adorned at the top with pronounced molding and a ring at the base.

MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 49 cm (19.92 inches).


CONDITION: It is in good condition, showing its age and use.

This type of pronged spear originated in Central Asia but was used from the 17th to 19th centuries in various regions of the Islamic world, such as Mughal India, Persia, Central Asia, Arab countries, and the Ottoman Empire.
Many of these spears were worn by Ottoman soldiers and are now displayed at the Topkapı Palace Museum in Istanbul.
