Antique Islamic medieval Seljuk Empire, c. 1037–1194 AD, (428 -590 AH). Kashan turquoise glazed pottery flask of bulbous form, resting on a short flaring foot and rising to a tapering neck with a trumpet-shaped mouth.
The piece is painted in black underglaze on a turquoise background, featuring vegetal scrolls. The shoulder is adorned with a band of reserved naskh Arabic calligraphic inscriptions, while the lower part of the body also displays a band of slightly visible naskh Arabic calligraphic inscriptions.

CONDITION: It shows its age and usage, featuring a beautiful old patina from earthen minerals. There is an almost invisible clean break in the neck that has been glued together, and the rim of the base is chipped.

Most authentic medieval Islamic ceramics, including those in renowned museums, are often broken and restored, with some having as much as 40 % of their original parts missing. However, this particular specimen is in very good condition for a ceramic that is approximately 900 years old.
