Antique Medieval 15th Century Islamic Mamluk Blue And White Ceramic Jar

This is an authentic antique vase from the medieval period of 15th century A.D. (803 AH – 906 AH) in Syria, during the Mamluk period.

It is an Islamic blue-and-white jar with an elegant tapering baluster form, featuring a short neck and an everted flat rim, standing on a low splayed foot ring. The body is hand-painted in blue on white ground, displaying five-lobed medallions that enclose a floral design, which is covered with a thick crackle glaze.

The vase's blue-and-white colors, lobed medallions, floral pattern, and ginger jar shape were influenced by Chinese porcelain imported to the Mamluk Sultanate during the Ming Dynasty.

CONDITION: Showing its age and use, it has a beautiful old patina, with chips on the base, neck rim, and body surface, otherwise intact. No restorations or repairs.
