A fabulous and rare art nouveau floral design from the Pilkington's Tile and Pottery Company, c. 1900-1903. It is both molded in relief and also intaglio carved giving the design a pulsating or vibrating quality; perhaps an indication of the rose and eternal flame....it strikes me as possibly being a heavy duty symbol with an arcane meaning. The tile is single glazed in a deep yet bright caramel amber and is in excellent/very good condition with a slight glaze bruise at top near center and on left flower head; there is very slight wear to edges.  Please write with any questions you may have
