Our beautiful porcelain pedestal with brass mounts at base and square onyx stone top is fashioned as a Corinthian style column and features fine gilt and hand-painted designs including the figures of lovely maidens in the neoclassical style. 46.5 by 11.75 by 11.75 inches.  Attributed to Carl Thieme of Dresden.

In good condition with rubbing wear, nicks and scratches, and some small losses at the corners of the onyx top.

In 1864 Carl-Johann Gottlob Thieme founded a porcelain and antique shop engaged in the decoration of porcelain.  In 1872 he established the porcelain factory Sächsische Porzellan-Fabrik Carl Thieme zu Potschappel.  In 1972 the company was nationalized, operating as VEB Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden until it was reprivatized in 1991.
