Antique early 20th century circa 1930. Spectacular Portuguese Majolica Large Ornate wall hanging Plaque in the form of the Plate in Palissy were style made by Jose Cunha Caldas da Rainha Portugal Adorned with Large hand sculptured Crab raised above a sandy textured background surrounded by blue Mussel shells, Barnacles and Seaweed. The rich colors are typical of the Palissy style with a cherry red for the lobster and a mixture of cream, greens and browns for the rest.

Impressed mark to the base Alvaro Jose of Caldas da Rainha. the base rim pierced with 4 holes for hanging.

CONDITION: is extremely good, no chips or cracks or repairs

MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 31 cm (12.2 inches).
