Hand carved  Chinese cinnabar, lacquered box, trinket box with a flowers and bird.    It measures 4" long x 2.5" wide and  2.5" deep.

There is a some damage on the corners and in a few areas it looks like something is stuck on to the lacquer.   It looks like it could be easily picked off but I fear damaging the surface further if I tried.      On on bottom on the edge there is a red mark that looks like it says "CHINA".  But only the top portion of the word is visible.   The border trim has worn away just enough to hide the rest.      This would be an antique export  item.
