Antique 19th century Russian Orthodox Christian brass traveling triptych folded icon" Deesis with Selected Saints."
Opened, the central leaf shows Christ enthroned in the attitude of blessing with Gospels, flanked by John the Baptist and the Virgin. The left leaves display St. John the Theologian, the saints' prelates Nicholas the Wonderworker and Metropolitan Philip.
On the left fold are Angel the Guardian, saints Zossima, and Sabbatius of Solovetskii Monastery. Russian Cyrillic inscriptions are on all four decorated panels.
The outer leaf displays The Calvary Cross and crucifixion symbols in a medallion within a rinceau border.
DIMENSIONS: open 17 x 6 cm (6.69 x 2.36 inches)
CONDITION: In its original condition, showing the age and usage, some enamel losses.
