An exceptional antique, 19th century, silver mounted and jeweled Islamic Middle Eastern, Ottoman period time, Marsh Arabs dagger, Jambiya, Khanjar of Basra area in Southern Iraq, with a long, curved double-edged sturdy steel blade, with a medial ridge.
One piece horn hilt of elegant form, carved with a central knob, and typical hooked pommel adorned with silver domed rosette , base mounted in low-grade silver ferrule set with five blue cabochons.
A low-grade silver scabbard with a wooden insert, repousse and chased with scrolling foliage and set with bands of braided silver wire and jeweled with two bands of blue cabochons. The inner side of the scabbard is chiseled with scrolling foliage and the name “Hamza Bin Ziran.”

CONDITION:
In good condition overall, signs of usage, with fine age patina, tip of the blade sightly pitted, silver ferrule and scabbard showing areas of wear and dents.

MEASUREMENTS:
Overall length in the scabbard: cm 39 cm (15.35 inches).
Overall length without the scabbard: 36 cm (14.2 inches).
