A large oval-shaped Islamic box made of solid sterling silver, which was crafted by hand in the 19th - 20th century in Egypt, which was then part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire. The box is exquisitely designed in the Traditional Ottoman Turkish style, featuring floral decorated panels that are finely chiseled in repoussé. The sides of the box are rounded and come with two handles, while the hinged lid tapers to a bulbous gadrooned top and has a peacock finial perched on it.

The silver box has been stamped with small, square hallmarks from the Egyptian assay office, which feature Arabic numbers to indicate that the silver used is of a grade over 900. These hallmarks can be found on the bottom of the box, the hinge of the cover, the tails of the peacock, the top of the handles, and the hinges.
