Oil on canvas by Edith Morehouse [1899-1979, American], "Portrait of a Woman". Morehouse studied with Irving Wiles, Frederick Bridgman, and Robert Henri, and had an art studio in Garden City, New York. She taught art classes and is known for her portraiture work of the Grand Dames of the Gold Coast of Long Island during the 1930s to 1960s. This self portrait was executed circa 1935 and in the style of one of her teachers, Robert Henri. 22" by 19", framed.
