Or Best OfferA pair of antique northern German, 1st half of the 17th century Thirty Years' War period military armored stirrups for heavy cavalry (Cuirassiers). Each formed from a hand-forged blackened iron plate, reinforced at the front and the sides and the bottom of the wooden step plates with iron straps mounted in a heavy iron band with a suspension -loop, the interior is fitted with leather lining. Such armored stirrups supported and gave the horsemen stability in amour and well protected the feet in battle.

CONDITION: showing age and usage, slightly pitted, some dents. Wood step plates and the leather lining are well preserved. Some iron rivets at the base are missing; however, in good condition for antique iron combat stirrups, over 350 years old.
