Pair Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze and Wedgwood Jasperware Sconces

Unavailable

This wonderful pair of ‪‎French‬ Louis ‪‎XVI‬ style gilt bronze wall appliques by Edward F. Caldwell‬, circa 1910s, feature neoclassical blue and white Jasperware plaques, likely from Wedgwood, and five newly electrified candles. The finest of their kind we have seen in our 20 years in business.

See our image of this design from the Caldwell archives at the Smithsonian Institute.

A similar but smaller pair with three candles was offered by ‪#Sotheby‬'s in New York on May 25, 2012, lot 187, with an estimate of $18,000-$22,000.

Each in good condition. Some rubbing wear and slight bends, surface dirt, and areas of verdigris.  With modern sockets and wiring, ready for installation.
