Rare Pair 19th Century Royal Vienna Porcelain Ice Pails

$5,000.00
Quantity available: 1

Our client's beautiful and very rare pair of large porcelain coolers from Royal Vienna, each approximately 14 inches (36 cm) tall, date from the early to mid nineteenth century and feature floral finials on lids, hand painted flowers and insects, gilding and four legs decorated with lion masks and paw feet.  Each with the blue underglaze shield mark. The finest example of their kind we have seen in our 23 years in business.

Overall condition of each is good.  There is rubbing wear to the gilding, light scratches and some chip losses to the painted decorations.  Stress cracks along the sides of the upper legs where they meet the bowl and losses to the glaze along some corners of the legs. Restorations to the feet.  One bowl with hairline and restored loss at the rim.  Chip to the inside edge of one cover.
