Chinese Unusual 18th Century Vases

$1,650.00
Quantity available: 1
This fine pair of late Eighteenth Century vases is thickly glazed in rich cobalt blue on the outside, and with turquoise glazing on the interiors of the tops and on the bottoms. Delicate gilding defines each vase's eight reticulated side panels. Probably designed to hold incense at an altar, the vases each conceal a cylindrical central interior with the outer walls lending a graceful octagonal baluster form. Relief molding of stylized mountains and cloud-bands encircle the body, the flared tops and bottoms of the bases glazed in vibrant, contrasting turquoise blue. Approximately 5-3/4 inches tall and 2-1/2 inches across the top. Chinese, circa 1760.
