For a bronze urn of the same style and comparable size, see lot 231 of Sotheby's sale in New York on November 22, 2005, which was offered with an estimate of $15,000-20,000.
We have also seen comparable examples signed A. Mayer, possibly from the German sculptor, Alois Mayer (1855-1939), an accomplished artist who commonly depicted Classical figures cast in bronze.
