Pietro Bazzanti Crouching Venus Marble Statue on Pedestal
Our client's fabulous, large statue of Crouching Venus after the Hellenistic period original comes from the studio of Pietro Bazzanti (1842-1881) of Florence. 34 by 19 by 16 in, 86 by 48 by 41 cm. Signed in script on base on left side P BAZZANTI Florence.
Includes custom-built variegated green marble pedestal.
The finest example of its kind and size we have seen in our 20 years in business, expertly sculpted from white marble with a finely polished surface to the figure's skin.
In good condition. There are scratches and small chip losses from the base, plus scattered dark scuffs and surface dirt particularly in crevices. There appear to be restorations to the toes on the right foot, and there may be other restorations elsewhere.
