Superb quality prehistoric, European stone hand axe-celt. Stone Age, Neolithic Period (Dating from broadly 3600 BC to 2200 BC)

The hand axe-celt is extremely well knapped and polished from creamy-beige flintstone hand axe-celt of thick-butted form with convex, almost semi-circular, nicely polished blade with finely profiled cutting edge.

The Trapezoidal shape axe is knapped into a thick and rounded butt end for gripping, the body widening towards the blade tip and an acutely angled blade edge which is still sharp even after thousands of years. Tools like these examples are part of the technology that marked Neolithic life in northwestern Europe, alongside farming, pottery, and longhouses.
