Antique 18th Century Queen Anne Period Walnut Roundabout Armchair

$9,000.00
Quantity available: 1

This Queen Anne period armchair in walnut dates to the 18th century, circa 1740-1760, and was appraised for insurance purposes for $7,500 by Sotheby's in 1998 on behalf of our client.  It features a backscrolled crest continuing to arms with rounded ends, above two splats and three turned stiles with straight tapered shapes, a serpentine shaped seat, covered in old needlework upholstery, and cabriole legs ending in pointed pad feet. The serpentine seat, legs, feet and stiles suggest it likely originates from Boston or Rhode Island, as these qualities can be found in leading designers of the region. Measures 31.5" high, 28.5" wide and 23.5" deep.  From an impressive Bedford, New York collection. Provenance upon request.
