RARE Polish Army Bayonet wz.29 by F.B. RADOM for a Polish Mauser Rifle

Rare Polish Army bayonet wz.28-29 produced by F.B. RADOM (Arms Factory Radom) for a Polish Mauser Karabinek wz.29 (Kbk wz.28-29) rifle.

This very rare example is fitted with a muzzle ring, which was only featured on the Pre-War M1930 version of the bayonet. Earlier and Mobilization issue bayonets had a cut off muzzle ring, similar to the German k98k bayonet. Additionally, many of the M1930 version were later modified by removing the ring.

CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Steel and wood.

MARKINGS: The bayonet has very clear maker and proof marks:

The ricasso bears the Polish crowned eagle proof mark and the letters W.P. (Wojsko Polskie = Polish Army).

The reverse ricasso bears F.B. RADOM, for Fabryka Broni Radom (Weapons Factory Radom).

The pommel is stamped with small Polish crowned eagle.

The scabbard is stamped on outer site below the mouth with military acceptance mark D2 in ellipse and other small acceptance stamp on the other side below the retaining spring rivet.

Dimensions:

Overall length of the bayonet in the scabbard: 40.5 cm (15.94 inches).

Overall Length without the scabbard: 38.5 cm (15.16 inches).

Blade Length: 25 cm (9.84 inches).

CONDITION: In very good condition showing its age and usage. The release button and the scabbard spring works fine. The leather frog damaged.

PROVENANCE: Ex-private old Canadian collection of Islamic art, which also included antique arms and armor formed in the 1980s.
