Royal Vienna Allegorical Porcelain Urns
Our pair of porcelain vases with pedestals and covers exhibit the finest design and craftsmanship from Royal Vienna. They honor Die Poesie der Elemente (Poetry of the Elements) in figurative cartouches, two on each vase, depicting Kunst (Art), Wasser (Water), Luft (Wind) and Poesie (Poetry). [Not a precise depiction of the Elements, as missing is Feuer (Fire) and Erde (Earth). The panels are signed J. Forstl.
Each measures 18 by 8 by 6 inches and is in good condition. There is rubbing wear to the gilding and light scratches. There is evidence of restoration and regilding to the lip of one vase, and the other may also have similar restorations.
